I know it's been a while since I posted an MP3 of a performance, and I'll do my best to catch up...Here's a version of "Long & Wrong," performed at a recent performance at The 55 Bar here in New York by one version of my quartet - Drums/Bass/Tenor/Tenor.
This two tenor band features Justin Flynn on tenor and soprano saxophones & Dimitri Moderbacher on tenor sax with Gary Wang on Bass. We played in late October in one of the best sounding rooms in the city, where the crowd is always generous and the musicians always have fun.
"Long & Wrong" was first recorded on my trio CD, "Consilience," with Gary on bass and Anton Denner on alto sax, and since it has two sections, it's been nice to perform it with two horns. Justin takes the first solo with Gary playing an interlude and then Dimitri coming in during the second section (the blues section). I follow Dimitri and then the ensemble takes it out in the third section.
