Run, don't walk down to the Village Vanguard to check out Bill Charlap's highly sophisticated and swinging trio. This band represents the "classic" trio - very tight, elegant music.

Bill is one of my favorites! I wish he'd get away from the standards sometimes - there are few piano trios around that can do it as well as his trio - but still, I love the opportunities to hear him show off the other styles (originals, more modern tunes).

Bill's trio really is special, and I hope he comes back to the Vanguard real soon!

Bill is a, how do you say it, bad MoFo. Nice to see the art of the piano continue. One of my favorite things to listen to. I'll have to catch him next time.
