Yes, you, too, can be a poet without knowing it if you Go Green this Halloween!
From Co-Op America comes these tips for (green) treats:
1. All-natural lollipops -- Our Green Business Network member the Greater Green sells "YummyEarth" Lollipops and Candy Drops that are vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, contain 100% natural colors, and are certified organic. Check out cool flavorslike Blood Orange Cocktail, Chili Lime Lambada, Ginger Zest, and Pomegranate Pucker.2. Clif bars – Clearly more nutritious than a candy bar, the popular energy bar company (and Green Business Network™ member) now offers mini sizes that are perfect for Halloween. The "Spooky S'Mores" flavor comes in a Halloween-style wrapper featuring ghosts and goblins; you can also find low-fat/high-nutrient flavors like Honey Graham, Peanut Butter, and Chocolate Brownie.
3. Sweet Earth Organic Chocolates – This member of our business network has launched a line of Halloween treats, including chocolate snacks shaped like pumpkins, skulls, witches, and bats.
4. Skip the candy – You can also choose to be green this Halloween by skipping the candy altogether and getting creative with your treats. Suggestions from readers have included handing out sidewalk chalk, quarters or fifty-cent pieces, small boxes of raisins, seashells, or even toothbrushes, to counter the effects of all that candy! (Check out Recycline for toothbrushes made from recycled yogurt containers.)
Stock up now for all the kiddies! Halloween is just around the corner!
