Our president has completely blackened our image with his most recent veto of a bill that explicitly prohibited our nation from waterboarding and other torture methods. He basically said that he didn't want to hold the C.I.A. and all the intelligence services to the restrictions contained in the United States Army Field Manual. He says the Army rules are too restrictive.
And what are these "Horrifying and Unneccessary" rules that he thinks the U.S. should allow?
** Forcing a prisoner to be naked, perform sexual acts or pose in a sexual manner.** Placing hoods or sacks over the head of a prisoner, and using duct tape over the eyes.
** Applying beatings, electric shocks, burns or other forms of physical pain.
** Waterboarding.
** Using military working dogs.
** Inducing hypothermia or heat injury.
** Conducting mock executions.
** Depriving a prisoner of necessary food, water or medical care.
This man has now completely cemented his legacy as one of torture, where "waterboarding" is now in our national lexicon. It's disgusting, disgraceful, embarrassing, and enraging, all at the same time...
