A brutal, hellish extraction of drums was required in the aftermath of Ms. Hurricane Sandy, shown here in these videos as the Atlantic Ocean rushed up the Hudson River at 30 mph, under the Verrazano Bridge and crashed over the Belt Parkway.
Although the following pictures are disturbing, they are nothing compared to what the folks in Staten Island, Far Rockaway, and Breezy Point, Queens are going through. Please give to any of these organizations, and/or go down to help in person by following this site or this site. They need help.
Sandy was not a good girl that night. In fact, she was a zombie producer, Apocalyptic Style:

That water flowed UP the Hudson River and into my studio:
It took two days to pump it all out so we could descend into the mucky mess:
My saviors: Danny Kellmer, Brian Novatny, & Robert Watson. I can't stop thanking these guys enough!!
The water was so powerful that it knocked over the piano blocking the door. We had to chop our way through the wall to get in. Good times:
And finally, last but definitely not least, is the fact that no one was hurt. With so much suffering in the New York area because of Sandy, I am lucky that I only lost "things." Instruments can be replaced. Loved ones cannot, and our hearts go out to those less fortunate and hope that they get back on their feet as soon as humanly possible.
These last two pictures are of my wife, artist Sharon Louden, in her studio 20 years ago. I saved this photo because it's such a special picture of the most important person in my life. I'm grateful beyond words that Sandy didn't get us! Onwards and upwards into more music and art making!
