Starting tomorrow night in Long Island City, Queens, the Long Island City Jazz Alliance (LICJA) will be holding a jam session every Tuesday night at the LIC Bar, the fantastic music destination known for its special willow tree-enveloped court yard (corner of 46th Ave. & Vernon Blvd).
Featuring jazz musicians who live in Long Island City and Astoria Queens, the first two weeks (October 12th and 19th) will be hosted by guitarist Amanda Monaco and her trio. They’ll play a few tunes starting at 8pm before opening up the bandstand to whoever comes out to play. If all goes well, LICJA will be at LIC Bar every Tuesday from 8-11pm!
The LIC Bar has about a dozen yummy draft beers in addition to their $3 Miller Hi-Life Bottles. LICJA will also be giving away FREE CDs from dozens of jazz musicians around the world. That's right: FREE!
So come on by, hang out, drink, chat, and play so we can make this a weekly happening!
[Directions from the subway are simple: take the 7 train from Grand Central to the first stop in Queens, Vernon/Jackson. Take the exit closest to the back of the train, walk up the first steps to your right and that will put you on Vernon Blvd walking north. Manhattan will be to your left as you're walking slightly up hill. Walk 6 short blocks to 46th Ave. - the blocks go down in number as you walk north. Google map is here.]
Hope to see you there!
