June 27, 2010 1:24 PM

Vinson Valega Quartet at VoxPop Cafe, Today!

with The Vinson Valega Quartet, as part of the Consilience Awareness Concert Series. 4:30 - 7:00pm.

Featuring Anton Denner on alto sax, Lee Metcalf on guitar, Gary Wang on bass, and Vinson Valega on drums.

1022 Cortelyou Road - Ditmas Park section of Brooklyn, NY. (718) 940-2084. The Q Train to Cortelyou Road is the closest subway stop.

This event continues our "Live Jazz for Social Change" message. Immediately following the quartet's performance, Jonathan Grindell, community organizer with Citizen Action of New York & CampaignMoney.org, will speak about the recent Supreme Court ruling - "Citizen United" - which was the landmark ruling that found that corporate funding of independent political broadcasts in candidate elections cannot be limited under the First Amendment. Specifically, he's going to speak about the movement across the country towards Clean Elections-style public financing.

Come check out the music and activism!
