Sonny Rollins interview in Vanity Fair.
March 4, 2010 1:48 AM

Sonny Rollins. Could be our greatest living jazz legend. Still blowing amazing music with his tenor saxophone after all these decades (he turns 80 this year).

Check out the interview
(.pdf) he gave a few years ago in Vanity fair:

Q: What is your idea of perfect happiness?
A: Perfect happiness is something that doesn't exist in this life. The goal is to never be too happy or sad.

Q: If you could choose what to come back as, what would it be?
A: A more evolved, intelligent being.

Q: What is the quality you like most in a man?
A: Listening more than talking.

Q: Which living person do you most admire?
A: I'm afraid that I don't admire people that much. Maybe my plumber.

Q: What or who is the greatest love of your life?
A: Of course, my late wife, Lucille.

Q: Who are your heroes in real life?
A: Anyone whose life if lived giving more than taking.

Amen, Sonny! Amen!

Make sure you catch Sonny playing somewhere near you in 2010!
