Free MP3 - "Black Fire" & "This is What Democracy Sounds Like"
October 2, 2008 1:45 AM

As a comparison to when we played this song back in July, enjoy this version recorded last year:

Andrew Hill's "Black Fire" immediately followed by my "This is What Democracy Sounds Like."

Recorded on October 27, 2007 at The 55 Bar here in New York City.

Featuring:

Dimitri Moderbacher
and Justin Flynn on Tenor Saxophones
Gary Wang on bass
Vinson Valega on drums

Andrew Hill was a wonderful pianist and composer who passed away recently. "Black Fire" is the title track of his 1963 Album, which featured Roy Haynes on drums.

"This is What Democracy Sounds Like" appears on "Awake" and acts as a call to arms with regard to the direction this country is headed.

It's time for a change.
