If you haven't had a chance to check out Brian Blade's wonderful music (and you're in New York this weekend), run - do not walk - down to The Village Vanguard to check out his group, "Fellowship."
The music is original, full of personality, groove, dramatic, and beautiful - all at the same time!

Wanted to see this but the weekend sold out before I got reservations. Hopefully they will be back soon.
