Bill Mobley's Space Time Big Band
February 6, 2005 1:22 AM

This coming Thursday, February 10th, at the new jazz club in New York called Smith's in midtown, you must get out to see Bill Mobley's big band, which he calls Space Time.

Bill is a prolific composer, rooted in the blues but committed to beauty. He's kept his big band going over the years in spite of the lack of a regular gig. Now he's bringing his band to Smith's every other Thursday. This date on Feb. 10th will premiere two new pieces dedicated to the memory of our late, great friend, James Williams.

Smith's is located next door to Birdland, in midtown: 701 8th Ave., corner of 44th Street. (212) 246-3268. Sets start at 9pm. No Cover!

You hit it right on the money, Vins. Bill is one of a kind in his style of arranging - and is one heck of a trumpet player too! Thanks for putting the word out.
