Any fans of THE BAD PLUS out there?
I'm going to check them out this week at the Vanguard.

Sorry, but this group is lame. Saw them at the SF Jazz Fest and they hammered some Police riff into the ground in a fashion that made the original sound subtle. Which is regrettable, since the pianist is a very talented guy, who made a fine record with Dewey Redman when he (the pianist) was about 19 years old. I don't get it. Is this heavy handedness suppose to be some post-modern joke?

Frank,

I'm familiar with your take on this band...some find it refreshing and others find it "heavy-handed" as you say...

I have to go hear them again with your comments in mind...thanks!
