Net Neutrality Preserved...For Now...
August 4, 2006 1:31 AM

Ted Stevens in the Senate was pushed back in his attempt to shelve Net Neutrality, his telco give-away bill.

The fight is not over, though:

However, it doesn't mean the death knell of the telcos' efforts to become the gatekeepers of the Internet. There are a few options open to Frist and Stevens: finding another legislative vehicle to tack the measure onto, or waiting until after the elections and holdling the vote in the lame duck session. Either option is extremely likely.

Keep up the fight to keep the net open to all - a level playing field, where rich, powerful companies are prevented from controlling access.
