Are paper towels or sponges more efficient?
May 5, 2010 6:11 PM

This is a question that bedevils most home owners who are ecologically aware of their carbon footprint. The answer? It depends on which way the faucet is directed:

Catherine Mohr, who has a blog tracking the build-out of their green home, compares the pros and cons of paper towels vs. sponges vs. cotton towels. Watch the video above. Bottom line, though?

if you're going to use hot water to rinse out your sponge you may as well tear off some paper and toss it in the landfill.

Of course this is a teensy-tiny issue that avoids the big ole elephant in the room...or house. Watch the video to see how she and her husband are handling energy issues in the buildout of their new house. It's fascinating.
