From the creator of "The Story of Stuff" comes this new video, "Think Outside the Bottle."
Corporate Accountability International is leading this campaign to help wean us off the plastic nipple and protect this most essential public good:
Corporations like Coke, Pepsi and Nestle' have manufactured demand for bottled water -- building a market by eroding confidence in public tap water. From India to Michigan, water bottlers are undermining local control of water and threatening the environment. Corporations like Suez and Veolia are deepening the world water crisis, bringing public water under private control at an overwhelming human toll.
Just consider these facts:
** Just in the United States, we consume 1/2 BILLION plastic water bottles PER WEEK! That's enough to circle the earth FIVE times!
** Bottled water costs 2,000 times as much as regular, clean tap water.
** Taste tests show across the board that tap water tastes better than bottled water
** And our tap water - which is a our most precious "common good" - is much more regulated that private, bottled water.
Join the campaign against bottled water. You can start by purchasing your first SIGG bottle (or equivalent) and get into the daily habit of filling it up from your tap source before you leave the house in the morning!
