Engineers Without Borders
November 24, 2007 7:07 PM

You've heard of Doctors without Borders, the organization that donates health professionals from rich Western nations to help those less fortunate countries around the world?

Well, now there's, Engineers without Borders:

Engineers Without Borders - USA (EWB-USA) is a non-profit humanitarian organization established to partner with developing communities worldwide in order to improve their quality of life. This partnership involves the implementation of sustainable engineering projects, while involving and training internationally responsible engineers and engineering students.

Projects range from "Machine to Remove Individual Grains from a Seed Stalk" to "Vegetable Oil Engine Research" to "Water Testing for 'Crystal Clear Technologies.'" There's even a small windmill that's being developed for only $100 that's going to Guatemala:

They are wrapping up their prototype phase and getting ready to roll-out the test phase in Guatemala. They need money for this, though. To give online, go here. Select “ATDT: Guatemala Wind Turbine” from the first dropdown and click submit. Then select “ATDT: Guatemala Wind Turbine” from the second dropdown (confusing) and click “Make a Donation”.
