There are many banks, credit card companies, internet service providers, and phone services out there that donate some or all of their profits to green causes. For instance, Working Assets (long-distance services) donated $5 million last year for various causes while the Salmon Nation Visa credit card supports sustainable fishing in the Northwest!

Ideal Bite sent a nice list out the other day which details many of these great plans, most which give the same services your used to with your regular vendor.

Check these out, and switch:

Banks

* New Resource Bank - the newest eco-bank on the block, with cool, futuristic eco-services, including solar financing and envelope-free depositing.
* Chittenden - eco-bank focused on Vermont, but with affiliate banks in other states, too.
* ShoreBank - biz bank founded by the green non-profit Ecotrust.
* Vancity - socially responsible Canadian credit union, for Biters up north.
* Coop America - good overview on all eco-financial services.

Credit Cards

* American Express Red - fight AIDS with every purchase.
* Defenders of Wildlife - credit card that donates to habitat conservation.
* Humane Society of the U.S. - this one donates to animal rights.
* Salmon Nation VISA - from ShoreBank, helps fish in the Northwest.

Internet

* EcoISP - 50% of profits go to your fave green non-profit.
* Makana Technologies - a couple bucks off your monthly bill are donated to the org of your choosing.

Phone Services

* Better World Telecom - for businesses only, 3% of revenue goes to non-profits.
* CA Affinity - donation-linked calling cards, plus long-distance and toll-free services.
* Working Assets - get comparable features to the big phone companies while helping civil rights, eco and peace orgs.
