Check out these awesome sites:
FREECYCLE (www.freecycle.org):
This volunteer site offers community bulletin boards, where members can note items they want to get rid of and scan listings of things they might need.
ZUNAFISH (www.zunafish.com):
Register as a member, and you can post the titles of CDs, DVDs, books, video games, and VHS tapes you're done with. Then browse the site for titles you'd like to trade for.
EARTH911 (www.earth911.org):
The aim of this site is to make "every day Earth Day." It provides leads on where to donate used cars, computers, cell phones, and other objects. It's also an excellent resource for local places where you can recycle or safely dispose of metals, paint, ink-jet cartridges, and electronics.
THE NATIONAL CRISTINA FOUNDATION (www.cristina.org):
This group coordinates donations of working computers and electronics to non-profits in your area that will use the equipment to train disabled or economically disadvantaged adults and children.
EXCESS ACCESS (www.excessaccess.org):
This site helps funnel pre-screened donations of furniture, clothing, appliances, and more to non-profits. It's a perfect way to unload bulky items (like furniture) because the recipient is responsible for picking up your donation. The $3 registration fee for individuals to join Excess Access helps cover operational costs.
There you have it! Five new sites you probably were not aware of...
