Wanna build a "Green" Deck?
October 21, 2004 9:37 PM

The Healthy House Institute is a great starting point to learn about environmentally sound building materials and plans.

An online guide to nontoxic paint is located at the Healthy Home Designs website and is just loaded with great information.

Non-toxic wood preservative brands include NatureWood, Wolmanized Natural Select and ACQ Preserve.

Composite decking is made from a mixture of reclaimed wood and plastic. Some of the best are: Trex, Weatherbest, and Nexwood.

Remember: The best wood to buy is "Sustainable" wood that has been certified by The Forest Stewardship Council. Make sure your lumber has been stamped by this organization.
