Memorial Day 2011: Total casualties in Iraq & Afghanistan Wars.
May 30, 2011 12:26 PM

Iraq & Afghanistan Casualty Count from the Department of Defense (as of May 27, 2011):

George Bush's Iraq War -

DEAD: 4,421
INJURED: 31.931

George Bush and Barack Obama's Afghanistan War -

DEAD: 1,475
INJURED: 11,541

TOTAL AMERICANS KILLED since 2002: 5,896

TOTAL AMERICANS INJURED since 2002: 43,472

============

Just remember these numbers when honoring our fallen heroes today, Memorial Day. It wasn't the soldiers who decided to go to war. It was a select few of our elected leaders who decided that it was worth it to have almost 6,000 Americans killed and 43,000 injured over the past decade.

On top of these horrible numbers, the cost of these wars will reach a few trillion dollars when all is said and done (including caring for our wounded heroes over future decades).
