Got that, America? SEVENTY FOUR PERCENT of you didn't bother to pick up the phone and call your duly elected Representatives during the recent year-long debate on Universal Health Coverage. 74% of you!!
And you wonder why it takes so long to effect change in this country? Imagine if that number was in the single digits. What would this legislation have become?
It's simple: they listen to us. Pick up the phone and express your opinion on each and every issue facing us.
Many folks don't know what to say or might be nervous. That's ok. It doesn't hurt, and they DO make a note of what you say. It DOES matter.
Emails are ok. Hand-written letters are the best (or type-written for that matter). But PHONE CALLS make the biggest difference.
Here are the websites to find the number of your Representatives:
Go to www.senate.gov and scroll down to your state (in the upper right hand corner).
Go to www.house.gov and enter your zip code in the upper left corner to find your representative.
Then call them the next time you care about an issue. It won't hurt you.
It will even feel pretty darn good the first time you pick up the phone and place that call!
