Although there is no "Architecture" section at Consilience Productions, the ongoing ramifications of 9/11 and the ripple effect that continues since that fateful day are profound. And until the area where the twin towers stood is fully developed, the scar will remain fresh.
The myriad geopolitical policy and economic changes since 9/11 notwithstanding, what exactly will the area look like once it's been rebuilt? Over at The Architects Newspaper, they've got a pretty stunning visual of how that area should appear once the last hammer and shovel have been retired.
"Each building will connect to a performing arts center and transit hub, while respectfully surrounding a memorial and amalgamating half a million square feet of retail, restaurants and nightspots," said state Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, who represents the area.
Check it out...and then ask yourself, "why has it take so long?"
