James Madison Online
April 3, 2005 2:08 AM

Are we living in the future, or what?

The fact that the The Library of Congress has released its James Madison Papers online is simply amazing. The papers, from the library's manuscript division, consist of some 12,000 items captured in about 72,000 digital images, documenting the life of the so called "Father of the Constitution" through correspondence, personal notes, drafts of letters and legislation, an autobiography, legal and financial documents and miscellaneous manuscripts.

Organized into six series from 1723 to 1836, the collection includes a complete copy of Thomas Jefferson's notes from the Continental Congress of 1776, as well as correspondence with Dolley Payne Madison, Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, Alexander Hamilton and George Washington, among others.

Don't miss these fascinating documents relating to the founding of our nation...
