Is this Chalabi affair Bush's Iran/Contra?
May 22, 2004 1:19 AM

Could this just released article from Newsday be the tip of the Chalabi iceberg, if you would.

Entitled, "Chalabi Group Front for Iran," Knut Royce talks about why we raided his compound in Baghad and how the Iraqi National Congress has been passing on U.S. secrets to Iran for years. And now the Justice Department is involved in an investigation of who passed on secrets that only a "handful of very senior U.S. officials" would know.

And finally, according to a new G.A.O. report, (if you didn't know already), U.S. taxpayers have turned over to Chalabi and his cronies $33 million since March 2000.

You can read the summary from the General Accounting Office (G.A.O.) here, or the full report here.
